DESA IAN TENA
Description
Jong Dobo is a small boat located in Dobo Hamlet, Iantena Village, Kewapante District, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
To get to this small village, you have to take about 30 minutes from Maumere City, the capital of Sikka Regency.
Jong Dobo itself in Sikka language, Maumere, consists of two syllables. "Jong" means ship, while "Dobo" is the name of the village where the boat is kept. If translated into Indonesian, it means "Boat in Kampung Dobo".
Based on the oral story "Kleten Background", the myth of "Jong Dobo" originated from a curse after a foreign ship crossing the Flores region broke an agreement. The agreement is an appeal to immediately leave 'Kampung Dobo' before dawn.
However, this agreement was ignored and eventually the ship was cursed into a small miniature in the form of copper which was 60 centimeters long, 12 centimeters high and 25 centimeters wide.
In Jong Dobo's miniature, there are 12 rowers, six on the right and six on the left. Inside there are four female dancer figures, next to chickens and gongs.
